On a beautiful evening marked by hope and celebration, the first official launch of the Mother Mi Safe Space for Special Children Foundation took place virtually on TikTok, drawing over 1.5m views from across the globe. This groundbreaking event ushered in a new chapter in inclusive care, advocacy, and support for children with special needs.
The event officially began at 6:00 PM Nigeria & UK time, kicking off with an engaging introduction by the moderator DoT, setting the tone for a heartwarming experience. Floxy Music set the atmosphere with soulful melodies, followed by a reflective opening prayer led by Abidek and Sheik.
The moderator introduced himself and fellow moderators, paving the way for a powerful opening speech by Akeem Olayiwola, the manager of the foundation.
One of the evening's highlights was the formal introduction of Mother Mi and the distinguished board of trustees, presented by Bona. Attendees were introduced to notable figures such as Adewale Adebayo, Adeteju Ogedegbe (Omo Dudu), Dr. Akin-Samuel Akinrinmade, the ODR Nigeria Godfather, and most notably, Adejoke Adebayo—the founder of Mother Mi, whose vision and passion birthed this impactful initiative.
The event also featured a rich lineup of performances and interactions. Akewi Aremu Oro delivered a captivating spoken word piece, and heartfelt interviews with parents led by Motade shared inspiring journeys from Mrs. Funke Ounmuyiwa, Ayinke's mum, and Mummy Zion.
Prince Francix Jay Cross thrilled the audience with a 10-minute performance, after which seasoned professionals shared insights in brief speeches. Educators followed suit, highlighting the significance of inclusive education and the vital role of compassion and training in supporting children with special needs.
Musical artist Dare John gave a lively performance, and a passionate call for support was made to families, parents, and mental health professionals. This was led by voices like Sweet Memories and the ODR Nigeria Godfather.
For a touch of humor, comedian Iya Agba brought laughter and lightness to the screen. The evening came to a graceful close with a heartfelt vote of thanks by founder Adejoke Adebayo (Mother Mi), a giveaway session, and a musical finale by Floxy.
